The section presents episodes in sequel: YIN’S Q BRANCH – HOW I TIME STOCK MARKET. The episodes are sequential and the order matters in reviewing the materials.

I. How I Time Stock Market? In this video, I’m gonna let share with you guys a small secret: how I time the stock market? In this video, I will focus on coding aspect of how the algorithm is designed. Then I will land the video on how to use this algorithm from PM perspective and the soft threshold.
II. How I Time Stock Market, a Qualitative Discussion. This episode is going to be a sequel of the episode “How I Time Stock Market”. So how do I time stock market? In the previous episode, I mentioned the soft threshold. Exactly what do I mean by soft threshold? How to apply this soft threshold to different sectors? How about index fund? How about large caps or small caps stocks?
III. How I Time Stock Market, a Machine Learning Story. Today we are going to land on machine learning topic of the sequel: How I Time Stock. In previous episodes, we talked about using stock data to compute moving averages and then construct distance matrix. This distance matrix just so happens to follow normal distribution which allows us to draw cutoffs and find rejection regions to act on. We have all these codes packed into an algorithm and it is telling us: what’s the historical information and whether today’s stock price falls in the region of interest or not. However, all of this do NOT tell us future behavior. Is it possible to build an algorithm to predict future behavior?

I. Asset Pricing, First Class. What is capital markets? What is risk and return? How do we analyze these metrics? If you are going through your MBA program or preparing for CFA Level III or Series 7, what are you going to do when you have no clue how previous scholars derive Capital Asset Pricing Model? What are some basics that can be learned to construct efficient portfolio? Today we are going to discuss Asset Pricing, a first class. Instead of using fancy statistical software packages, we are going to code our project RAW and we are going to dig into the original formula to construct efficient portfolio.
II. Asset Pricing, Growth Strategy. I got a good episode here for you guys! Today we are going to talk about one of the most famous quant strategies out there: Growth Strategy! First we download the data. Then we build up our data to compute this strategy. There is NO timing component and NO machine learning component. We evaluate data and every period we select a certain number of TOP performing stocks by stock returns within the period to construct portfolio for the next. It sounds like a dummy strategy. But this “chase high” type of investment style actually have its strength.
III. Asset Pricing, a Qualitative Discussion on Growth Strategy. Every quant strategy has its strength. However, programs are essentially robots under sets of fixed principles. They operate within certain fields of parameters, which may or may NOT be appropriate in real world. It is up to US to monitor the behaviors and assess the functionalities of how programs operate in REAL world.
IV. Asset Pricing, an AI Driven Strategy. In asset pricing, we look at stock data and we are trying to beat the benchmark index. From previous discussion, we talked about one of the most famous strategies in asset pricing, the Growth Strategy. However, growth strategy in asset pricing is like driving on a highway looking back once in a while. It could be dangerous. There could be a certain time that you are just unlucky and that you bought at the top of the market. What if we can allow current decisions to be driven NOT just by the past but also by the FUTURE? That’s exactly right. In this episode we are going to talk about how ML can play a key role in asset pricing.
V. Asset Pricing, Hist Last Bow Welcome to the final episode of Asset Pricing sequel! As the last bow, I want to make sure that I land on something that you guys can use and apply in real life. We are going to wrap everything from the “How I Time Stock Market” sequel and the “Asset Pricing” sequel into a web-base user-friendly online platform. In this episode, we are going to talk about how to build a web-base application so that we can come up with a software platform for clients to use.
